[18F]PSMA is a radiopharmaceutical Positron Emission Tomography (PET) tracer developed by Oryx Isotopes for the diagnostic imaging of prostate cancer. It consists of a targeting ligand labeled with the radioisotope Fluorine-18 ([18F]), which specifically binds to the Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA). PSMA is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly overexpressed in nearly all prostate cancer cells, particularly in advanced, metastatic, and castrate-resistant stages, while showing limited expression in healthy tissues. Upon binding to the extracellular domain of PSMA, the tracer allows for high-contrast imaging of primary tumors and metastatic sites, facilitating accurate staging, detection of biochemical recurrence, and treatment monitoring in patients with prostate cancer.
